We’re taking a little winter tour soon. Here are the flyers.

Awesome show tonight with Rvivr, Future Virgins and 2/3 of This Bike is a Pipe Bomb (called Zippers to Nowhere) and…
Hysteria!
Hysteria is a new band featuring Koral (from your very own Gorgeous) playing bass and Rosie (from For the Hell of It) on drums. Plus, there is two girls involved in the F-word who have killer vocals.
I’m listening to them practice in my house as I type.
It’s going to be a riot.

We have a show on August 24th with Wet Nurse and Dickkicker (click here for details). Otherwise, there’s not much going on. Between bandmates outside of town, an almost Chicago family visit, work, school and colon cancer, we’ve been busy.
So, I guess a small break was in order after a tour. We’ll hit the ground running again once school starts.
I only had time to write about Birmingham while on tour, but I am going to try to give each city its own post in the upcoming days.
Overall, it was a blast. Sometimes hot and frustrating, but we never wanted to come back. We payed for gas entirely from the money we made at shows, which was more than we expected.
Still, after recording, eating out and not working for over two weeks, we are broke, broke broke.
Thanks to everyone who helped us along the way.
The Dave is not the usual house show experience. It is a house, but no one lives there, and the equipment/sound system is more professional than half the venues we’ve been to.
An ex-cop turned lawyer and father of the guy who books shows there acts as a bouncer/doorman.
The set alternated between acoustic acts and electric acts. The quiet/loud/quiet thing worked out suprisingly well. Get crazy then calm the hell down.
The first band, Quartetris, reminded me of a Red Hot Chili Peppers bar band.
There were three acoustic acts touring together who were peppered throughout the set and made up the quiet sections: James Disaster, Madeline Ave and Jake Lazovick. They all reminded me of different aspects of the “Plan-it-X sound.” All were super friendly and traded merch with us.
Gorgeous played third and to a responsive crowd. It was really hot and sweaty, but that’s how some of the best shows are.
The last band, Younger Siblings, was easily our favorite band of the night. They sound like They Might be Giants with a more punk influence. ”Three Day Weekend” is still stuck in our heads after all these days. We recognized their guitarist, Jonathan, from when he came through Tallahassee as The Fourth Estate’s replacement bassist.
Teddy, lead singer and ukulele master of Younger Siblings, was really nice. We chatted with him at Al’s, a great 24-7 burger joint.
He informed us that The Dave had ripped us off, which is a bummer. There were at least 50 people who came in and out of the venue and the ex-cop/lawyer father was charging $7 to get in. We got $20 for the show, but Teddy fought for us to get another $20. It was still a small amount compared to how much they made total. To make things worse, The Dave has no rent to cover because the old lady who owns the place lets them use it for free.
There’s been rumors about The Dave using all the profits so the guy’s band can record.
Oh well, the show was great and we met some great people.
Chayse, the drummer from Younger Siblings, let us stay at his house called God’s Butt. It was cool with a skate ramp out back and one of those arcade style basketball hoops in the living room. We were so comfy on those couches with blasting cold AC. They do basement shows there and some other Tallahassee bands have been through. They invited us to come back and play anytime.
Our going away/CD release show was bushels of fun. Parasail played first and had a great crowd. The Peach Walls and Captain both did great as well.
The keg was tapped by the time Gorgeous played.
Sadly, the PA system broke during our set. I don’t think anyone could hear vocals no matter how we screamed. We will have to get that looked at once we are back from tour.
The po-po broke up the party before our last song.
Thanks everyone who saw us off and partied with us on our last night in Tallahassee! We felt loved and supported by all our friends and fellow Tallahassians.
Show tonight in Pittsburgh at Garfield Artworks. Tomorrow is in Brooklyn.
First off, Black Wine rocked. The band has three distinct vocalists, which gives them a lot of texture. They sometimes dip into ’70s jam band territory, but not in a bad way.
What I mean is, they’re no Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
Thank God. And sorry if you actually like Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
At times they also sound like Bikini Kill and Wire. I consider those good comparisons.
Plus, Black Wine are super nice people. They are going to help us get a show in a bowling alley in New Jersey for our tour!
I was hoping more people would come out to see them. It was a Monday during the summer, but the Facebook event showed a lot more interest than what I saw tonight.
Ex-Breathers ruled. Ronnie filled in for drums again and nailed every song (whether the humble bastard will admit it or not). Their recordings are great, but watching them live and witnessing how they really lock in on those riffs is amazing.
Jungle Strike was the first band. They are fairly new. I missed a lot of their set, but they had a cute song about a chihuahua. If you could not tell from our website decor, Gorgeous has an affinity for dogs.
People were really supportive of us and nice. We sold a few patches and gave away a bunch of the old spray painted/bleached ones. Jack from Ex-Breathers announced during their set that he thought Gorgeous was one of the top five current Tallahassee bands. Blush.
So, our singer’s grandma and dad came to visit. I guess the grandma took one look at my ‘87 Ford Ranger and decided there was no way in hell she was going to let us tour in that. She went back home and bought my singer a 1999 Chevy Tahoe with 53k miles on it. I guess it was a family member’s car and helped two causes.
We went from no AC, power steering or elbow room to a plush palace on wheels with seat warmers and a CD player.
Gorgeous is moving up in the world.
Tour is in 9 days!
Bikini Kill - Sugar - live El Macondo LA 1993
This is the infamous show where Kathleen “hits” a male photographer at the side of the stage and gives him a right telling off YOU GO GURL
Four out of ten songs from our new album.
There will be more when we have our CD release/going away show on June 30th. It’s all going down at our crazy house, the Franklin Court Manor. Wild!
*Bands playing with us include Courtesy Fight, No Names (they really don’t have a band name yet) and Captain.
